AUSTINITIES “CRUISE” THE CAPITAL-
Chris Nielson has a good idea, he wants to use small and electrical vehicles (golf cars) and incorporate it in to the Austin public transportation system. One of the better things of these systems it´s 25% more efficient in gas consumer. But this option needs specials license. Two years ago he fight for public ordinance to back to his plan, but is not easy, many experts have some safety observations and now this option is only a plan.
I think that incorporated these systems in de public transportation is a good idea, first, because is friendly whit the planet and two, is a cheap option to make better the Austin transportation publics system. To make a transportation system better is necessary have many options, like cycles routes, taxis in the streets, more bus routes and more.
I need ask you a question. For you, the public transportation in Austin is good?

Hi, Adolfo,
ReplyDeleteI'm interested in your topic.
Where did you pick it up?
Nowadays many people hope to try the costdown about their using utilities.
But it's not easy.
Pls tell us your wonderful idea.
You have a great question Adolfo. I've lived here for 3 years, and I find that traffic is HORRIBLE. When I drive, I do everything I can to avoid I-35. I drive my car to work, and it's ok. I used to ride my bike, and the bicycle infrastructure (bike lanes) is great. The bus system is also good, and I use it often (see capmetro.org to ride it).
ReplyDeleteAdolfo: some history...
Austin has a "light rail" - an above ground metro system - but it hasn't starte yet because of poor management. The people are very, very angry. This might also be one of the reasons Chris Nielson's article is important in the Statesman now. If we get light rail, transportation and traffic will improve. However, too many people use cars and traffic is really bad at rush hour. Advice: don't drive on the highway!
Great article.
hi adolfo its cool topic and its good idea
ReplyDeleteHi Adolfo! Mi nombre es Annie :)
ReplyDeleteIt sounds great that it's 25% more efficient in gas consumer. I agree your reaction. Especially reason, that idea was good, is friendly for the earth and cheaper then other public transport. If I have a chance, I want to take it. Of course after it is incorporated.
Hi!! Me llamo Taka!! Hola!
ReplyDeleteYou found a nice article!
I answer your question first.
>Is the public transportation in Austin good?
My answer is "No". I'm living in South Austin. It takes for 30min by a car. The time is not long. But I can't go out without a car. Bus stop is far, and no railway except a freight train.
I can't say good.
Electrical vehicle seems to be good for the way to move and the environment. It is great! I think that it's a nice idea!
I think that the public transportation in Austin is good only if you have a map in your hands jajaja if not it´s difficult to find the route than you want.
ReplyDeleteFor incorpored this kind of otjer transportation is good, because I will have more options to go than the place than I want to go
See you
